So let see some ponds and koi ................................
This couple lives in Heist op den Berg in Belgium. They are both crazy about koi! They want the best and have a very good filtration system as you can read :
Their pond is 75.000Litres big and it has 4 bottomdrains.
2 of them are aerated and these bottomdrains are connected to a drumfilter.
After the drumfilter he installed an gravity filtration system which chambers exists of : one part is a moving bed of 1,5M3, the two other parts are filled with japanese mats and matalamats. This part consists 2 M3. After this filtrationpart there follow 2 filter with plants. In total there goes 37,5M3 through this filters.
Another filtrationline goes to a tricklefilter with a flow of 14M3, and another one goes to an proteïnskimmer with a flow of 7,5m3.
Lars has 2 ponds, one koipond and one lily’s pond.
The koipond is about 70,000 liters, built with rubber sheeting. It has two aerated bottom drains with two vortex, a chamber with japmat, a chamber with K1. All this is powered by two 15.000-liter pumps.
A protein skimmer is powered by 13.000 liters. The pond is about five years now.( the small pond in the picture is lily pond)
They have beautiful big koi in a not so big pond only 30.000 Litres without filtration. The koi only stay here from May until October. In the winter they move to the quarantainepond inside the house.
The pond is heated by electricty (suncollector) in summer so the temperature stays always 24-25°C minimum.
The filter of the pond exist of a multichambre filter filled with Japanese mats and the pond contains 2 bottomdrains. There are also 2 tricklefilters feeded by the drains to the skimmers.
This inside pond contains 12m3 and is mainly filtered by a big beadfilter. After the beadfilter the water goes to the tricklefilter and the proteïnskimmer.
As prefiltering he uses here and static bed system.
Jean-luc promised us some info about his pond in the near future.
Our customer sent us pics of his pond an koi he purchased in our shop. He lives in the South of France.
Twice a year he comes to select koi and take them with to the Provence. His pond is 100.000Litres. You can see the water is clear. We did not get more info on the filter so, that is a pity.
But still, thanks for the pics !
This small pond is 8m3 and used to treat sick koi when needed but also all the best koi go in here for the winterperiod. This pond is heated and is filtered by a beadfilter like the small ponds in our shop.
Daniel’s pond is 32M3. The filtration happens by using a drumfilter with after that a 3,5M3 Biochambre with 300 Liter 12er H-Lix. He uses a Linn pomp who runs 45M3/hour. He also uses a Oase pomp for a second filter of 1,5M3.
Their pond contains 75.000 Litres. The filtrationsystem exists out of 4 filtrationlines which move together 48.000 Litres pondwater pro hour.
The filtration itself are 2 nexusfilters and 2 beadfilters. Next to this 4 separate items in the filtration, the chambrefilter contains 100 japanese mats and 5 airpumps to give oxygen to improve the envirement for the bacterial culture in the mats.
Arno & Elise have their best koi still in Japan and play there on the All Japan show every year. They became best Sakara in 2010 with their ginrin showa !
This customer lives in the Dordogne in France and has a 60M3 pond for koi. The filter contains 2 Polygeysers and 1 Shark 60.
Danny has a pond of 12.000 Litres and the pond is made of HDPE. The filtration exist out of moving bed and Japanese mats. The filter is 1500 Litres.
He also sent us a small video to show his koi in live.
Alvaro is living in Asturias and koi has to be shipped by airplane to him. He will give us more info on his pond and filter later, but now it is summer and he has a hotel so very very busy with guests.
Here you recognize one VIP !
Big Rose kohaku, winner of many differtent prizes on koishow in Europe !
and of course maybe other ones too.
This couple is really crazy about gardens with water. They also have a filtration with plants. They like wild nature in their pondcreation.
Jan’s pond contains 25.000litres and is 3 by 4 metres with a depth of 2.4metres at the bottomdrain.
The filtration exits out of :
3 x 440 litres unit of static and moving bed in. Also he has a trickle filter filled with bacteriahouse. Also he has a smal plantfilter. He heats his pond in winter.
Our customer Michael is crazy about and still young but he has two parents who also live for koi. He made some very good chances in his pondsystem and also made a nice quarantaine- and winterpond inside and heated.
The main pond outside is 35m3. The pondfilter exist of a drumfilter, a chambrefilter with mats, Helix and Crystal Bio rocks from Ogata.
As you can see he is a kohakulover, he has some nice ones.
This pond in his garden is 15M3. As filtration he uses first a vortex with a micro module, and then all goes to the chambre filter filled with japanese mats.
Fabrice has a wonderful pond of 30M3 in his veranda. All his best koi are in here. The filtration contains a drumfilter, and a 3-chambrefilter filled with Japanese mats. There is also a window where you can see the koi from the side and admire their colors like the shiro !
As you can see, Fabrice puts a lot of oxygen in his pond and fitlers. This is very important for the koi.
This couple is really amazing ! Both, man and woman are koilovers. They do not have one pond, no they have two ponds and one quarantainepond inside.
This is their first pond, 30m3 water, with chambrefilter
It is not only koi they love but also the statues, bonsai, waterelements etc ....
Have a look at this pond.
This second pond contains 120m3 water and also with chambrefilter, beadfilter, ...
Here they spent a lot of work in making a river of water with stones. And not only Michel and Hilde like this also their dog and cat.
have a look again
Andree sents us his pics with a good explanation of his filter.
He built his pond in april 2009 and it contains 63.000 Litres. It has 4 bottomdrains and 2 skimmers. It has a plantfilter next to the main pond of 10.000 Litres. The filter and pumpchambre exist out of 15.000 Litres. So the total of water is 88.000 litres. As pumps he uses Linn02 with a capacity of 48.000L/Hour. For the plantfilter he uses a 12.000L/hour pump. He also installed a Aqua SE drumfilter and moving bed.
Marco’s Pond in Wiesbaden is 20.000 Litres and as filtration he uses 2 chambrefilters with japanese mats and Helix. Also he has 2 seaves to clean the water.
The irregular shape of the pond arranged by natural rocks (500-2000 kg) is a Japanese traditional pond style. It is a 13 ton polyester-made pond, 1.50-1.80m deep.
There are 2 filter lines starting from each bottomdrain :
1° Bottom drain goes to a 5-chamber filtration system with in the first chambre brushes, in the second to the fourth chambre Japmats, and in the fifth Glafoam and Nitrate Deduct after that the water goes to the heat exchanger/gas boiler heating system, then to the BIO UV and back to pond.
2° the water of the second bottomdrain goes to the skimmer then to the bubble bead filter, proteïn skimmer and at last to the ozonisator and back to the pond.
This pond contains 100.000 L water and now they are 18 koi in the pond from 45 to 75cm.
We start from 4 filtrationlines
1 the first one goes to the multichambre filter. This one is beig fed by 2 bottomdrains.
2. Second one is a seave with bakkishower agian fed by 2 bottomdrains
3. Seave with a Polygeiser beadfilter fed by one walldrain
4. Last ne is a Nexus eazy 310 fed by one skimmer going further to a heat exchanger and a venturi airmaster
Also they have in separate line a skimmer with venturi and aeration.
